From Aarde
The Membrane is a double layered envelope between the existing world and the Aarde. It is both a physical and a virtual space.
The physical space forms the boundary between the existing world and the Aarde. It is the place where entering or exiting individuals (immigrants or emigrants) are guided and coached—intelligibly, emotionally, spiritually, and physically—into either world, educating them on their journey so that they obtain full fitness to blossom in their eventual destination. The Membrane is a transformation station and absorbs individuals to ready them them for their new challenge.
You are already familiar with The Membrane’s virtual space since you have played many serious games, pursued quests, watched TV series, films, watched documentaries and the news, read books and articles, and browsed the myriad of sources on the web on the Aarde. Al these experiences have prepared you for your journey through the physical Membrane. You are ready now.
Another major function of the Membrane is the adaptation between the monetary economy of the existing world and the gift (or social credit) economy of Aarde. It is here where all trade is done, where all the monetary capital is taken care of. The economic aspects are mostly run by people who have a burning desire to become inhabitant of Aarde. It is part of their education and transformation process.
Becoming Aardeer is a transformative process, requiring at least six months of education, experimenting and practice. Unbecoming Aardeer (emigration) also is a transformation of the individual and happens to some. Some people don’t make it to the inside, they appear just not ready. They do get healthier, though, and often are able to help the existing world in exciting new ways.
Some people leave Aarde after some time, most often to settle somewhere else and start a new cell, large or small, spreading its good life.
The Membrane regulates and buffers all influx and out-flux of Aarde, human beings in particular. Although the Aarde is flexible and the Membrane can expand and shrink, there are limits to its healthiness. The Membrane’s primary purpose is to educate people—to bring out the best—and keeping the Aarde fit and healthy.
Your time in the Membrane is closely monitored to ensure you receive the best education and training. In fact, everything in Aarde is completely open. There are little or no secrets. Most if not all of your activities are monitored and recorded and helps Aarde to improve on its health as a whole.
You will have no private property in the sense that you are used to in the traditional world. No one has. So it is a level playing field for everyone. You do have property or ownership of things like your house, your bike, your garden, etc. But in Aarde, ownership comes with the responsibility and accountability to take care for it and keep it healthy. By accepting ownership for something, you also accept full commitment for its health or well-being.
You will need time to adjust to this new way of life, and the Membrane is there to guide you through this. And especially the serious games, accompanied by the excellent books on Aarde, have already prepared you for this way of life. So rest assured.
